Homemade Gifts: Doggie Treats

19 Flares 19 Flares ×

In our house, holiday gift giving isn’t just celebrated with the amazing people in our lives. We spread the holiday cheer to our furry friends as well. There are many people who enjoy the company of their pups, and it is so great to be able to recognize that. I always try to make a special treat for the VIPs (very important pets) in our lives. I think it is safe to say pet lovers around will enjoy receiving homemade treats for their pets just as much as their puppies will enjoy eating them.

Peanut Butter Dog Treats

What you’ll need:

½ cup of water

½ cup oil

2 eggs

3 T. peanut butter

2 t. vanilla extract

2 cups whole wheat flour

½ cup cornmeal

½ cup steel cut oats

The process:

Preheat the oven to 400 degrees.

In a large bowl or stand mixer, blend the wet ingredients. Once these are combined, add in the dry ingredients and mix through.

Form the dough into teaspoon sized balls and roll smooth. Place on a baking sheet. You can keep these close together because their size will not change. Bake for 20 minutes. After 20 minutes, turn off the oven and allow the treats to cool inside the oven. They will get very crispy.

Store in an airtight container and share with the greatest pups in your life!
