Creamy Peppermint Mocha

1 Flares 1 Flares ×

I love seasonal drinks of all kinds, and this morning I found myself craving a seasonal Starbuck’s beverage. I wanted something warm, sweet, chocolaty, and dashed with some peppermint flavor. More or less, I wanted something that screamed the Holidays are here! (This may also be due to the fact that today is the last day of work before the holiday break.) So I thought, why not try my hand at an original recreation, and so I present the Creamy Peppermint Mocha.

What you’ll need:

Candy Canes, crushed

Chocolate Chip

1 ½ cups Milk (I used soy)

4 T.Powdered sugar

2 T. Hot cocoa

Strong coffee

The process:

Begin by pressing a strong batch of coffee, or making a small pot of espresso. I chose to press my coffee and made it about 2x stronger than a regular cup.

While the coffee steeps, warm the milk over the stove. Add the sugar and cocoa powder. Whisk until well blended and the milk has turned frothy.

Place a few chocolate chips and some crushed candy cane in the bottom of your mug. Fill the mug about ¼ full with coffee. Fill the remaining portion of the mug with the milk mixture. Mix everything gently with a spoon and top with crushed candy cane.

Results: This will make two large cups of Creamy Peppermint Mocha. Morning holiday beverage was rich, creamy, and so much cheaper than its Starbuck’s sister.
