Sautéed Cabbage

I wasn’t planning on making this a blog post, but I ate it nearly 5 days in a row and it was delicious. It is almost too simple for sharing, but the flavor is so amazing I couldn’t help but to share.

What you’ll need:

½ head of lettuce, thinly sliced

1 strip bacon

Dab of butter or drip of oil

Salt & pepper to taste

The process:

Heat the fry pan over medium high heat and cook the bacon strip. Once it begins to crisp, remove it from the pan and finely chop. Return to pan along with the sliced lettuce. Sauté over medium heat until the cabbage begins to brown. If you need a little more fat to prevent things from sticking to the bottom of the pan, add a small dab of butter or drop of oil. (I used butter.) Salt and pepper to taste and serve warm.

Results: This is tasty as a warm winter meal or a warm winter side dish. It reheated nicely in a pan and provided the perfect amount of needed winter warmth. It quickly became a regular meal in the days leading up to the move.
