Everywhere we look, there are always companies trying to convince us to buy something. It could be something as fancy as a new kitchen gadget or something as basic as a premade seasoning mix.
We rarely need these things. We merely lust after their shiny finish and tempting conveniences.
The truth is, homemade is always better, especially when it comes to food. Not only does homemade food carry a more vibrant flavor, but it tends to lend itself to more uses.
Take this taco seasoning for example. There are plenty of premade varieties available to make my life easier but I chose to make my own. I used it as a steak rub for a fiesta salad I was making.
As a result, our seared steaks were bursting with spicy chili flavor perfect for a fiesta salad. Prepackaged could have been easier, but homemade is always better!

Want to stretch that pricey local meat even further? Don’t make meat the meal’s focus. Buy a small cut, cook, slice, and serve a few pieces as a side or topping to your salad.
